The PQ (Performance Qualification) is the documented proof that the system delivers a constant product quality with a high degree of safety. For this purpose, the performance qualification of ultrapure water systems is usually carried out in three phases (Inspection of High Purity Water Systems):

• Phase I (2-4 weeks)
  Run-in of the system and determination of work instructions and sanitization cycles. Sampling and analysis of each sampling point according to the sampling plan.
• Phase II (2-4 weeks)
  Demonstrate that the facility can be properly operated with the determinations made in Phase I while meeting water quality requirements. Sample and analyze each withdrawal and sampling point in accordance with the sampling plan.
• Phase III (52 weeks)
  Demonstrate that the facility can be operated properly over the long term, including consideration of changing raw water quality, while meeting water quality requirements. Sampling and analysis of each withdrawal and sampling point in accordance with the sampling plan as routine testing after completion of the PQ.
