Reverse Osmosis

Reverse osmosis is a pressure-driven process in which the aqueous and ionic components of a substance are separated from each other by diffusion and by means of a semipermeable (semipermeable) membrane.

The law of osmosis, which ensures that there is an equal concentration on both sides of the membrane, is reversed. This is done by applying a high pressure (higher than the osmotic pressure) to the membrane. This allows the aqueous components to migrate through the membrane while the ionic components are retained.
